  • The Chisso plant seen from the east gate. A large flag is raised from a picketers’ shed built on a bridge over the drainage ditch. The union headquarters was located in front of the east gate, and the gateposts with round lights on the top defined the boundaries of the premises. The main gate, the back gate, and this east gate were normally entry and exit points, but were occupied during strikes and lockouts.
  • The east gate is now completely blocked. Trees around the gate have grown larger.
