Intersection of Mutsukado
- Route 3 and the entrance of Ozono-cho at the intersection of Mutsukado. In 1891, Minamata-keiba-gaisha, literally means Minamata horseracing company, was established. At that time, the circus and shows were very popular in the area where the civic gymnasium is now located on its west side. The upper side of the river from Shin-Minamata used to be called Uzon-no-tomo, a licensed quarter which lasted till around 1957. In the picture you can see the cars followed by the demonstration march of Shin-Nitchitsu Labor Union after the end of its 96-hour all-out strike.
- The intersection of Mutsukado at present. The street in the picture has a flower shop, the Minamata branch of Kumamoto Family Court, Minamata City Hospital and Medical Center and other buildings.
