  • Umedo port seen from Futagojima Island. On the left, there is a thermal power plant. On the right, there are the tanks of Shin Nihon Chemical Co., Ltd.. The port was improved, followed by the development of Chisso. Even the regular liners from Amakusa or Misumi Port, which used to anchor at Marushima Port, docked at Umedo Port. It prospered as a key junction of marine and land traffic due to the opening of Minamata station of the Kagoshima Main Line in 1962.
  • Umedo port seen from Futagojima Island at present. There is no longer a thermal plant nor a tank of Shin Nihon Chemical Co., Ltd. and now is just a plain.
