Sakae-machi
- A salt farm was made and the Chisso factory was built in Taisho Period (1912-1262) here. In 1918, a prefectural road from Yude to Umedo was opened and a newly developing town named Sakae-machi emerged along the road. A blacksmith, a cooper, a dye shop, a rice store, an eating place and the others stand side by side. The road was popular among seamen who landed at Umedo port. Among the array of the buildings on the left side you can see the Shin Nitchitsu Labor Union’s sheds for picketing. Two children have wool caps.
- On the site of the hut for picketing, a building supply store is located now.
